Individual Music Therapy offers the client an opportunity to experience therapy in a private therapy environment. The music, session content, musical choices, and goals and objectives are all specifically tailored to the individual client. Therapist, client, and/or caretakers will collaborate on forming goals and objectives and establishing ideal musical interventions to aid in potentially reaching these goals and improving overall health and wellbeing.

Group Music Therapy

Group Music Therapy offers clients the opportunity to make music in a group setting with multiple clients at the same time. Group music therapy sessions encourage confidence building and socialization, as well other tailored goals and objectives based off of class demographics.

What Should I Expect?

Step 1: Free Consultation

Prior to consultation, client and/or caregiver must fill out client intake form. During the consultation, the therapist, client, and/or caregiver will discuss reasons for referral, and potential hopes and wishes for therapy. The therapist will learn about the client's background, musical preferences, and special considerations.

Step 3: Therapy Sessions

It's time for the sessions! During music therapy sessions, the client may choose to attend on their own, or have a caregiver shadow/observe the session for client wellbeing and safety. Sessions are traditionally 30 - 60 mins in length (specific times will be highlighted in client contract).

Step 2: Assessment(s)

It's the first session! Here, the therapist will meet with the client in person on site, and the client will engage in musical interventions and tailored musical experiences. The first (sometimes few) sessions are often exploratory as the client becomes comfortable around therapist, and as the therapist learns about the client in real time. Throughout session(s), therapist will assess if client is an ideal candidate for music therapy. The client and/or caregivers will be notified if music therapy is the right fit for them, and will be given a contract to sign.

Step 4: Re-Assessment, Evaluation, and Termination

At the end of session period (as per client contract), the music therapist will have a final session to formally assess client progress. An evaluation document may be created highlighting client progress. From there, the therapist may terminate sessions, or propose continued sessions with refined goals and objectives.
